A Really Cool Idea

One day we might be able to make home refrigerators without any chemicals or industrial coolants. The main hope for this comes from a special property of metal and a quirk of entropy. We already have them in use for labs...so why not our homes?

 Pandora Freedom Day

For 24 hours on Wednesday, Pandora will encourage all listeners to enjoy its stations without having to hear any ads. “This is a thank you to each and every listener who has tuned in to Pandora over the past 10 years,” founder Tim Westergren said in a statement.

An editorial in the Wall Street Journal rings a bell we've been ringing for years: "Who owns the knowledge required to take apart and repair TVs, phones and other electronics?

Manufacturers stop us by controlling repair plans and limiting access to parts. Some even employ digital software locks to keep us from making changes or repairs.

This may not always be planned obsolescence, but it's certainly intentional obfuscation." The article shows that awareness of this consumer-hostile behavior (and frustration with it) is going mainstream.

The author links to several DIY repair sites like iFixit, and concludes, "Repairing stuff isn't as complicated as they want you to think. Skilled gadget owners and independent repair pros deserve access to the information they need to do the best job they can."

While waiting outside Emerald Bay in Laguna Beach for entrance at 7:30 AM the construction workers wait parked along the side of the road of Coast Highway a few minutes before the gate opens. Laguna Beach cops give tickets to them just mere minutes before the gate opens for illegal parking, a $43.00 ticket. This happens frequently. They want us to work for them on their expensive homes but they do stuff like this to us?
Others have been victimized for insane cop authority abuse...
