From The Prophetic School: An Explanation Of Free Spirits And Spiritual Potential

Todays lesson has some Scriptures that we are going to view in a way that will bring out something that few ever get a hold of. These Scriptures are often read and passed over with out true comprehension of what we are actually reading about.

See if you can lay hold of this lesson and grasp the fullness of it.

 ***

I would like to teach you from the Scriptures what I feel a free spirit is, also show you the potential of a free spirit.

The illustrations that we will consider from the Scriptures are challenging.

At the beginning of this walk in the Spirit, I felt God was bringing us into many things which I could not understand or define, and we moved in more than we were able to describe.

Now I think it is time for us to also come into a scriptural understanding of the things that God has brought forth to us.

There are several clear examples of a free spirit in the Word of God. These illustrations will amaze you as they show you the true potential of your spirit.

To begin with, you must understand that the human spirit with its potential has probably never been explored or preached by any minister up to this present generation.

Even now, I am positive that no one really knows to the fullest extent what the human spirit is meant to be.

We know that the spirits of those who are outside of Christ are dead and darkened. We preach the elementary fundamental truth that you must be born again.

The apostle Paul wrote, "You are made alive, and you have been seated in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus" ( Ephesians 2:5-6) .

You are a new creation in God. In II Corinthians 5:17 Paul said, "You are a new creature."

Peter wrote in I Peter 2:9, "You are a chosen generation." ( "A choice species of life" is the literal translation. )

You are to grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ ( II Peter 3:18 ) .

God is concerned, not just about your conversion, but about your regeneration in the new life He is bringing forth in you.

Why is that new life not explored?

Beyond any question we are born again into a new spirit. From that position, we are able to worship God.

Jesus told the Samaritan woman, "The time is coming and now is, when all who worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth" ( John 4:23).

This is referring to the human spirit. It is not religiosity that God is seeking: it is the honest worship of your spirit born of God, a new spirit, regenerated and brought into the presence of God.

All of this we know; it is very fundamental.

Consider these related truths: Your spirit is predestined by the plan of God to be conformed to the image of His Son.

The second Adam, Christ, was made a life~giving spirit just as the first man, Adam, was made a quickening soul ( II Corinthians 15:45 ).

Adam begat men who came forth with souls. But Jesus Christ brings forth men with spirits. He is the second Adam.

In other words, He is the federal Head of a new generation of people who have been born again with renewed spirits and a divine nature.

God has given us a divine nature. He has given us exceedingly great and precious promises, that by these we might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust ( II Peter 1:4 ) .

These Scriptures bring us to a conclusion that we cannot deny: It is the will of God that your spirit should continually develop into the attributes of God and into the attributes and nature of Jesus Christ.

What then are the attributes of God?

What is the first attribute that God gives a person after he is saved?

Eternity.

You believe in the eternity of God.

You do not believe the people who say that God is dead, do you?

You believe that God is alive forevermore.

Then do you also believe that if you have faith in Him you will never die, that He imparts to you His eternity?

You have a spirit in the image of God that has taken on God's eternity.

You have a spirit that is also taking on His righteousness.

To some degree you have already possessed it. From the time that you become a Christian, He robes you with His righteousness.

It is your spirit, not your flesh, that is made righteousness.

You are not trying to become righteous as far as the old flesh nature is concerned. You want that od flesh nature to die, but you want the divine nature to come forth in the righteousness and holiness of God.

For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son...Whom He called, them He also justified: and Whom He justified, them He also glorified. Romans 8:29-30.

In other words, it is a complete transformation that God has in mind for you. You cannot doubt it for a single minute.

One of the great attributes of God is His infinite wisdom.

Visualize the golden light of all that God is and all the authority that is vested in Christ coming down into a prism, dispersing into the nine gifts of the Spirit which are actually fragments of the attributes of Christ Jesus, the Son of God.

What is the word of wisdom but the wisdom of the Spirit? It is not human wisdom.

What is the word of knowledge but God's divine knowledge? It is not human knowledge. It is worked within us, fused in our very being.

The fruit of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit, the divine abilities, come forth in us in an amazing way.

What is the working of miracles or the gifts of healings but fragments of His omnipotence?

We do not say that we have it all, but we are saying that the human spirit, once it has been begotten of God, progressively enters into a greater and greater manifestation of the divine nature and attributes.

If all of this is true, then the other attributes of God-which are more elusive in our thinking so that we reserve them for God alone and not for ourselves- will start to be worked within us.

You may protest that we cannot practice omnipresence, for we are only in one place at one time. But have you ever noticed your spirit beginning to take on a oneness with God's people?

Just as God is made one with us, He also ordained that we should be one in Him.

In this way, the omnipresence of God comes forth in a limited sense to us. It begins when two people begin to reach out in the spirit.

It may be a rapport that exists between a new convert and a pastor or an elder who is ministering to him, until their spirits seem to have such an awareness of each other that if one is in trouble, the other seems to sense it.

Then this begins to expand until there are a dozen people with this awareness. Soon there may be an entire church of three hundred people, and then several churches.

I do not know how many people I have an awareness of. I awaken in the night, troubled and disturbed when they come to my mind.

Sometimes they are the ministries and sometimes they are the people.

We do not know everything about it and we are just developing. This is nothing new; it is just being developed on a more extensive plane.

Perhaps you have heard stories about someone suddenly being burdened for a missionary who was in need- someone with whom he had a strong bond in the spirit.

God's omnipresence was quickened by the help of the Holy Spirit, bringing such an awareness that he was right there.

Sometimes a person will sense an individual standing right in front of him; the human spirit has actually taken on a visible form.

These things are not spooky, and I am not trying to teach you something of the occult or the metaphysical realms.

I am talking to you about what happens through the Holy Spirit, through God's anointing which is coming upon us as the children of God.

You must make a distinction, because any psychic ability outside of Jesus Christ is not developed in people who have a born~again, renewed spirit in God.

It is an activity of soul that is not to be compared with the divine nature and an awareness that God is bringing forth in the people of the Lord.

You might be interested to know that some people are becoming anointed free spirits, so that by the Holy Spirit they are able to reach out to one another.

This is a great aid in intercession and spiritual warfare. It is the only way I know that the strong can bear the infirmities of the weak.

The Scriptures gave three illustrations of a free spirit: Elisha, the Lord Jesus Christ in His ministry, and the apostle Paul. They are very clear as to what happened.

After the healing of his leprosy, Naaman was concerned about giving great gifts of money, property, and garments to Elisha, but he refused them.

Gehazi, his servant, an apprentice prophet who was to take Elisha;s place after he left, coveted these things.

He went after Naaman and said, "My master changed his mind and decided he would take the loot after all." Gehazi took the gift and buried it.

But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither. And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee?

Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?

Elisha said, "Did not my heart go with you when Naaman turned from his chariot to receive you?

He had seen him; he was aware. There was a projection of his spirit; he was not limited by what his physical senses could see. Something in the abilities of his spirit reached out at that moment.

Elisha told Gehazi, The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went from his presence a leper as white as snow. II Kings 5:25-27.

( One can only wonder what will become of those and their family members who receive the grateful financial gifts of those who have been healed by God. Those who gladly receive these gifts and build fine homes and live the lifestyles of the rich and famous with their private jets, guard gated homes, personal body guards etc...)

This may seem like an amazing miracle; however, something similar is practiced rather commonly in the transference of disease.

This was not an ordinary case of leprosy that came upon Gehazi; he was as white as snow with Naaman's leprosy.

That is significant. In the realm of the spirit there can be a great deal of transference. You see the negative aspect here, where a man actually received leprosy as though it were a tangible entity that was transferred.

Jesus rebuked spirits of infirmity, and He rebuked diseases as though they were entities.

Perhaps you have been around someone who was violent in his emotions and had a headache. When you walked away from him, you had his headache; it had been transferred to you.

Or perhaps you ate with someone who was nervous and fidgety. Suddenly your peace of mind and sense of composure had disappeared and you were nervous too.

Things of spirit are readily transferred.

God has given us a marvelous promise: If any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God ( James 1:5). God can transfer some of His wisdom to you and not be any less wise for it.

God can transfer His righteousness to you, and you will truly be righteous. Transference in the realm of spirit is a fantastic tool.

Do you see that your spirit is predestined by God to come into complete conformity in every respect to the Lord Jesus Christ? Our main problem is our lack of faith in what we can be in Christ.

There has been a progressive unfolding of revelation and of what God wants to do in a remnant that He has called and is raising up.

If the Lord tarries. these things that I am teaching you are going to be quite common during the next few years.

Daniel prophesied that the wicked will do wickedly, but the righteous are going to shine as the firmament ( Daniel 12:3,10 ) .

If Jesus could walk in that glory, don't you think that the people He has begotten in the Spirit can walk in that glory too?

Jesus said, "Father, the glory I have had with Thee before the world was, I have given unto them that they may be one" ( John 17:5,22 ) .

The Christian world is not going to become one through an ecumenical movement. They will be one when the Lord puts His glory on them.

When Jesus began His ministry, He took upon Himself the same limitations, and He was moving in the same potentials, as He sets before us.

He was in all points tempted as we are ( Hebrews 4:15 ) .

Jesus said, "Of Mine own self I can do nothing. It is My Father who doeth the works" ( John 5:30 ) .

This means that Jesus had emptied Himself of His power and His other attributes of deity in order to move as a man.

He did not minister until he received the Holy Spirit, the same Holy Spirit that He gives us.

Peter said, "Jesus Christ, anointed by the Holy Spirit, went about, teaching and performing signs and wonders" ( Acts 2:22 ) .

In other words, the whole ministry of Jesus Christ was limited to the same ability of the Spirit that He sets before us.

When Jesus was ministering, He took upon Himself certain limitations which He does not have now.

I am sure the Father bestowed on Him all authority in heaven and in earth, and He dwells in the glory He had before the world was.

 John 1:45-51King James Version (KJV)
45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.

51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

By the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus had the ability to see the conjunction of two worlds.

I believe we are living in the day when we too will see the heavens opened, and see a conjunction of the human realm and the spirit realm.

We will come to see, to experience, and to communicate with the angelic host.

Today the spirit world is much closer than it was a few generations ago. Satan would like to make people think of it as spiritualism or talking with the dead.

Stay away from seances. You can wind up with an oppression that you will not be able to shake.

There is a reason why spiritualism and seances are coming forth at this time.

This s being done deliberately by Satan to discredit the fact that in the end time there will be communication with the heavenly host and with those in Christ who have gone on before.

The book of Revelation tells us about the two prophets- who during their lifetime had performed great wonders- coming back to this earth again ( Revelation 11:3 ).

Malachi 4:5 speaks of Elijah coming back. I do not doubt this at all. I also believe that these Scriptures speak of companies of people, and not just individuals.

Do not be a bit surprised if you find the presence of angels round about you.

When ministering to people, it is easy to tell if someone has recently had a close call, coming very close to death. I can feel the vibrations and the presence of angelic protection round about them.

The angels are given to those who are heirs of salvation.

When I sense angel protection around a little child, I realize that he has been subjected to some danger. Little children are marvelously blessed.

Jesus said that their angels do always behold the face of the heavenly Father ( Matthew 18:10 ) .

The one being that has a clear channel or access to God is the angel who cares for a little child. This is not new teaching.

We are just becoming aware of the angels of God who have always been there.

The second scriptural example of a free spirit is the apostle Paul.

I Corinthians 5, the famous chapter on church discipline, has been distorted and used to kick people out of churches; however, that chapter is speaking about discipline of a very high order that is rarely attained by any church.

For I verily, being absent in body but present in spirit

( When people say that they will be with you in spirit, they do not know what they are talking about- they are not really present ) ,

have already as though I were present judged him that hath so wrought this thing

( his spirit had snooped around and uncovered the whole situation, and had already entered into judgment of that man ) ,

in the name of our Lord Jesus, ye being gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus. I Corinthians 5:3-5.

Paul evidently heard about the difficulty in Corinth and investigated it thoroughly in the realm of the spirit so that he had a conscious knowledge of what had taken place.

When the church met, his spirit was there with the power of the Lord Jesus Christ to deliver that one over to the judgments of God.

Paul wrote in Colossians 2:1-6: For I would have you know how greatly I strive for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh

 ( notice that they had not seen his face in the flesh );

that their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, even Christ, in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden.

This I say, that no one may delude you with persuasiveness of speech.

For thought I am absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ. As therefore ye received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.

Paul was able to see the whole church. He rejoiced to see their order and steadfastness. He was absent in the flesh, yet present with them in spirit.

This kind of communication is a marvelous ability. It only comes when God has opened up the spirit.

When ministries can come into this, it is the prelude to the omnipresence of God being worked in the human spirit.

I have a distinct feeling in my heart that more and more of God's people will find both the realm of utterance in God and the realm of perception in God opened up increasingly as time goes on.

We should have a great faith for it.

John 14:10-18King James Version (KJV)
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Notice verse 21:

21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Verse 23 picks up this same thought again:

23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

It is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that opens up many of these marvelous experiences for us.

Christ said, "I will come and take up My abode in you." Then He continues even further and says, "My Father and I will come and take Our abode in you."

Paul prayed, "I bow my knees before the Father that you might be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man, and Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith, that you be rooted and grounded in love, so that you might be filled with all the fullness of God ( Ephesians 3:14-19 ) .

Do not stop with the fullness of the Holy Spirit; go on until the Spirit, the Son, and the Father ( in that order ) , possess you ever increasingly.

I have a witness from the Holy Spirit that these experiences will be so great that they will overshadow the pentecostal experience and what people have held as the epitome of all spirituality.

Jesus tells us in John 16:23-24:
And in that day ye shall ask me no question. The King James Version reads, "ye shall ask me nothing," but that is not what is meant. It does not mean that you will not ask God anything; you will ask Him for many things.

But you will ask Him no questions, because you will have all the answers.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, If ye shall ask anything of the Father, He Will give it you in My name. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be made full.

Some people expect a man of God to give them all the answers. It is not good that a man should have all the answers.

If he does, people may begin to deify and glorify him in a way that is not right before God.

But it is right for you to have this promise of the Holy Spirit that in this day of fullness, you will ask Him nothing.

There will be no questions. What ever you ask of God will be given to you and poured out upon you in a fantastic way.

Paul wrote to the Corinthians:
Eye hath not seen, nor ear hear, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them unto us by His Spirit...

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
I Corinthians 2:9-10,12.

God has things for your life that you are not aware of. He has a walk with you that you have no concept of as yet.

Follow on. This is the only prelude.

We are just starting. We do not yet have very much, compared to what the Word of God says we can have.

Let us contend earnest for the things that God has for us. Let us reach into them.

Oh, that there were a heart in the people of God to press in, that they would cry day and night for these things.

This is a day of visitation and God intends for His people to be very blessed.

We are satisfied with too little from God, when great abundant blessings are to be poured out upon us.

If I can move into the things that I see in God, I can bring some of the rest of you in.

Then you can start ministering it around, and eventually all of you will get into it. But there is a need for that compulsive drive to break into one thing after another that God has for your life.

The human spirit can take on a great deal, and this is what it means to be a free spirit.

If that term is objectionable to you, call it a "developing spirit in God" and you will have the very same meaning.

It is the new nature in Christ, developing into new abilities, receiving fresh endowments and fresh impartation.
