Steve Jobs would have said, "Woz I know you can fix the bus limitation!" Before releasing to market...

That is what made Apple great! These other guys have potential to be great if they would only realize this would have never happened at Apple...but then they didn't have Steve relentlessly pushing them forward into greatness.

The Achilles Heel

"1000Mbps link is limited to 470Mbps actual bandwidth due to internal chip busses limitation"

"SolidRun refreshed its line of tiny 2 x 2 x 2-inch mini-PCs with four new community-backed models based on 1.2GHz multi-core Freescale i.MX6 SoCs. The CuBox-i devices support Android 4.2.2 and Linux, offer HDMI, S/PDIF, IR, eSATA, GbE, USB, WiFi, and Bluetooth interfaces (depending on model). All the models offer 1.2GHz clock speeds, OpenGL/ES 2.0 3D support, and video acceleration for 1080p video, while the two higher-end ones supply more robust GPUs that add OpenCL 1.1 support."

The SolidRun CuBox is is the world's smallest desktop computer. The high performance, low power HTPC and media centre is packed into a tiny cube, just 2 × 2 × 2 inches in size.

Weighing 91 grams (0.2lb, 3.2oz), the highly-efficient fanless computer runs happily on less than 3W power*, even when streaming and decoding full-screen 1080p video - and it's all available as an open source development platform!

"Solid-Run's CuBox is a full computer in a sub 3 Watt power envelope. It's a flexible, advanced platform optimized for running Android TV applications and for media-centric open source application development" said Rabeeh Khoury, CTO of Solid-Run.

If these guys put forth a lot more effort they could become great as a company. If greatness were easy everyone would be doing it...

Just ask Woz.

With a bit more work the Achilles hell could be rectified and a truly solid product could go to market.

Here is another company that hit the under $100.00 price tag and their product actually gets 1000 Mbps instead of 470.  Someone pushed for greatness?

Here are some others that are fanless and silent operating.

Nano electronics and surface mount techniques combined with photonic gates and plasma gas raceways in a centimeter enclosure will blow away anything we can imagine today...to be released in 100 years after much tweaking.  The Steve Jobs of the future will be in his space port with his friend Woz working on it...

Woz speaks out.
