Pastor Jim Jacobson

“I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.” -Zech 12:10

.
“In that day a fountain will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for impurity.” -Zech 13:1
.
A fountain is a perpetual flow, something that springs forth endlessly. In Hebrews Jesus is described as follows:
Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. -Hebrews 7:25
.
The image in Zechariah is prophetic of the redemptive ministry of Christ. What a wonderful ministry Christ has to endlessly extend grace. The fountain of his forgiveness is extended to the world. The passage in Hebrews is clear that Jesus’ ministry is endless and perpetual. He is the fountain, the source, and one day, His own will receive Him.
Here is a great song written with these scriptures.
