I did some studying today and came up with this compilation:
The anointing and God's Glory

Christians get together, fellowship, worship God, and study the Word. Sometimes the Glory of God manifest in their coming together. The cloud of Glory hovers overhead and they experience the Glory.

Jesus would manifest the Glory of God.

When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead it was to manifest the Glory of God.

When Jesus heard that, He said, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.
John 11:4

Later, Jesus said to Martha:

"Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?"
John 11:40
Miracles always make the glory real to us. The presence of glory in our gathering together holds incredible potential for miracles. We are so fired up when we are present for a manifestation of the glory of God.

2 Timothy 1:6
Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
The way that Paul used the word stir up can also be said "Fan to a flame."
Hebrews 12:29: For our God is a consuming fire.

Being in the presence of the glory of God will do that to any Christian that is aware and filled with belief and expectancy when they gather together with other Christians.
Don’t throw cold water on someone else who is operating under the power and fire of God!
Do not throw water on yourself from doing the same thing by resisting the move of the Spirit and smothering it out.

It is interesting to note that on the day of Pentecost the apostles saw a vision of "tongues as of fire." They then manifested forth the new spirit within by speaking in tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4).
Worship of Almighty God 'sets the table' for the manifestation of the Glory of God. God dwells in the middle of the praises of His people.
Timothy had a taste of God's glory when Paul the apostle laid hands upon him. How? Because Paul was anointed, he could impart into timothy's life by laying his hands upon him. A physical act that lead to a spiritual act.
But what is the anointing? Where do we see this in the Word of God?
King David was a prophet, a king and a psalmist of Israel who God anointed. His psalms are with us to this day. Regarded as the very word of God.
David was anointed in the midst of his brethren.
1 Samuel 16:13 (New International Version)

13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the LORD came upon David in power. Samuel then went to Ramah.

Take notice that from 'that day' forward the Spirit of the Lord came upon David in power.
David was anointed as King over the house of Judah.
2 Samuel 2:4 (New International Version)

4 Then the men of Judah came to Hebron and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah.

David was anointed as king over all Israel.

2 Samuel 5:3 (New International Version)

3 When all the elders of Israel had come to King David at Hebron, the king made a compact with them at Hebron before the LORD, and they anointed David king over Israel.

So what can this'anointing' do for David? He gives us some clues in one of his psalms:

Psalm 92:10-15 (New International Version)

10 You have exalted my strength like that of a wild ox;

fine oils have been poured upon me.

11 My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries;

my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.

12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,

they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;

13 planted in the house of the LORD,

they will flourish in the courts of our God.

14 They will still bear fruit in old age,

they will stay fresh and green,

15 proclaiming, "The LORD is upright;

he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him."

1."Mine eye...shall see."

The anointing gives us a new vision. Proverbs 29:18 (King James Version)

18Where there is no vision, the people perish...

Jesus Christ tells us to, "Anoint thine eyes with eye~salve, that thou mayest see.

2."Mine ears shall hear."

The anointing opens your ears so you can hear God's voice. To be led of the Spirit is to hear God's voice. Many will read and study the Bible faithfully, but how many have never heard God's personal voice to them? The anointing will give you spiritual ears to hear the living Almighty God.

3. "The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree."

The anointing will help you to find watering places in spiritual deserts and during dry seasons no matter where you are planted.

4. "He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon."

Cedars have a very long life like the giant redwoods. The anointing will help you to grow strong and powerful as you abide in Him.

5. "Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God."

There is nothing like the 'presence chamber' of the Lord. We sing, "One day in Your courts is like a thousand elsewhere." As we worship and become more and more reverent while drawing near to Him we suddenly find ourselves within His courts and we realize that we are entering the Holy of Holys the very presence chamber of our God. We are rejuevenated and restored and thusly become very fruitful, bearing fruit unto life everlasting.

6. "They shall bring forth fruit in old age."

The anointing will make you productive throughout your entire life. There is no such thing as retirement in service of the King of Kings. We will continuously bear fruit well into our old age.

7."To show that the Lord is upright:He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him."

The anointing allows you to trust in the Lord, relying upon him and sticking to Him like velcro. Allowing your life to represent the Lord and to be called a 'Christian.' In this world of corrupt politicians and public servants etc, it becomes so hard to know who to believe. But you can know for sure that the Lord is truly righteous and full of pure integrity. Giving you a solid foundation upon which to stand in a crumbling unrighteous world system.

John 18:36

Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world:

We have that solid rock of our salvation and our lives under the anointing will show it to others righteously.

Ok so King David was anointed, but what about you and I?

1 John 2:27 (King James Version)

27But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

You are anointed! What can keep you from experiencing the fullness of the potential invested in you as a Christian?

Hebrews 3:12,19

12Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

19So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Apistia, unbelief.

When we worship and the Glory of God is manifested we are not only to enjoy it and experience it. We are to realize the potential for miracles and doing the work of the kingdom under the anointing of the Lord God Almighty!

The presence of the Glory cloud brings the possibility of spiritual rain. The anointing allows us to have an expectancy within, knowing that anything is possible. Our hearts will remind us that the manifested presence of God holds the possibility of miracles.

Ok, so what's the big deal of miracles. Because miracles bring glory to the Lord.

David
