Do these mysterious stones mark the site of the Garden of Eden?

For the old Kurdish shepherd, it was just another burning hot day in the rolling plains of eastern Turkey. Following his flock over the arid hillsides, he passed the single mulberry tree, which the locals regarded as 'sacred'. The bells on his sheep tinkled in the stillness. Then he spotted something. Crouching down, he brushed away the dust, and exposed a strange, large, oblong stone.
The man looked left and right: there were similar stone rectangles, peeping from the sands. Calling his dog to heel, the shepherd resolved to inform someone of his finds when he got back to the village. Maybe the stones were important. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1157784/Do-mysterious-stones-mark-site-Garden-Eden.html

Power ~ Ephesians 1:17-23-

Ephesians 1:17-23- "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power, which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the Church, Which is His body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all.".....

The apostle Paul is telling the Ephesians that he is praying for them, that they would have the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of the Lord, and he knew well that this could only be possible if God GAVE them the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. Paul knew that they could not somehow think or meditate, or earn through any type of effort of their own, the spiritual enlightenment that only Almighty God could possibly bestow, and so he prays that God would grant it to them. He was aware from the moment that Christ apprehended him on the road to Damascus that everything that he, or anybody else ever received in the way of spiritual things, had to come from God Himself, and that it was incumbent upon us, His Childern, to RECEIVE. God initiates- we respond.....

It is amazing to me that we believers still manage to get entangled in bizarre doctrines and teachings in the wisdom and knowledge (and personalities) of mere men, when we have God's living Word at our fingertips! It baffles me that the church has moved away from the supernatural working of God's Spirit in our own lives, as if simply reading and studying the Bible, learning the original Greek, Aramaic and Hebrew languages, and studying the history of the church were what gave us real spiritual power. That all may give us pride and an ego, but not power! Paul knew his history- he'd been a Pharisee. He knew the Law of God, and all that it required- and he'd given his entire life to it! Sincere? You'd better believe it! And yet, those were the very things that he counted "LOSS for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord" (Read Philippians 3:7-10). Nobody could fool Paul on the things of God- Nobody.... because HE KNEW CHRIST.

Not some sentimental idea of Him, but Christ Himself, and he devoted the entire remainder of his life to Him- the One for Whom he had "suffered the loss of all things", and yet he counted all of them but dung, "THAT I MAY WIN CHRIST" (Philippians 3:8). His relationship with Jesus Christ was no conceptual thing. It was a genuine, living, abiding relationship that eventually brought him right into the very presence of the Lord he so loved, for all eternity. THAT was his reward- not fame, not fortune, not a good name or recognition, but Christ Himself.....

The world looks at us today and sees the church in a wheelchair- no power at all, just crippled. Why? Because we're not really 'abiding in Christ' as we were called to. We, the Church, the Body of Christ, were created to allow God to move in and through us, but so much of what we do is merely mental, not spiritual, and you'll find no power in that.... I love the name, "Shekinah", because it refers to God's immediate Presence. No one who knows the Shekinah Glory of His Presence will ever, nor could ever, be satisfied with less, because nothing on earth compares to it, and that is how our God designed us- to yearn after Him with all of our being. Only as we do that, and truly and constantly abide in Christ, will we be in actual practice what God's Word already says that we are- "His Body, the fullness of Him that filleth all in all" (Ephesians 1:23).

Are You Serving Yourself Or Are You Serving The Lord?

Only one life, t'will soon be past- Only what's done for Christ will last...

."For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain (Philippians 1:21)." The choices that we human beings make (both believers and non-believers alike) have such an impact, not only on us, but also on those to whom we relate, and in turn, on those to whom they relate. This is one of the important aspects of witnessing and evangelization, for as we share Christ with others, they in turn share Christ, and so on, and many people are affected and impacted.....

There are so many things that people can and do give themselves to, aren't there? We all have certain talents and bents and preferences (not necessarily evil or destructive in and of themselves), and a person who is without Christ will persue their heart's desire- be it good or bad- and history is replete with examples of individuals who go to great lengths to accomplish 'great' things. This world of ours is full of wonders. It's also full of distractions. People have devoted their entire lives from youth 'till their death, to objects, ideas, concepts, things that they hold near and dear, that have no eternal value whatsoever.

Again, these pursuits may be not be in and of themselves bad, but to seek knowledge or experiences- even the most worthy of exploits- will always be fatally incomplete if God is not our ultimate desire. We human beings so misuse our wonderfully engineered minds and bodies, often without even pondering the long term affects. Those without Christ simply don't know better, but the Body of Christ ought to. A believer who seeks to pursue his or her own way, with little regard for the will and leading of God's Spirit, is in a more pitiful position than a lost person doing the same thing, because the Christian knows that he or she has a redeemer to whom we will ultimately answer- a redeemer who created and knows every one of us, and He beckons to us, "Come unto Me". He never stops calling us, but will we listen?

Kathryn Kuhlman spoke to a group of graduating students at a Christian University in 1974, concerning the remainder of their young lives, "The choices that you make can shake the world for God!" It's easy to see, if you've studied her life, where she stood in terms of making choices, and what her priorities were- and she wanted to impart these things to those young students. Miss Kuhlman knew the potential that those kids had. She knew their Lord. But she also knew that the choice was theirs, and if they didn't let the world know who Jesus Christ was, then they would not have fulfilled their high calling. Sure, they knew the Savior, but was He their passion, their goal, their very lives? Kathryn Kuhlman had a way of making people see things as they are in reality, and that graduating class took notice!

Believer, whom are you serving this very moment? How do you want to be remembered? What matters most to you?....

Only one life, t'will soon be past- only what's done for Christ will last.

God Relationship....

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek Thee; my soul thirsteth for Thee, my flesh longeth for Thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see Thy power and Thy glory, so as I have seen Thee in the sanctuary (Psalm 63:1&2)....

There is something that every great man or woman of God that you may have known or read about has in common. It's not some carefully kept secret, although you might believe that it is, given the apparent rarity of this type of Christian in today's 21st century American society. In fact, it is something that Almighty God desires for ALL of His children, if we only would.

As we can see from the opening psalm here, David had a deep and passionate relationship with God. It is obvious that he knew the 'secret' of a genuine, deep closeness with his Creator and Redeemer, although as previously noted, it is no secret at all. David determined to seek the will, the face, the very heart of God, and to seek Him EARLY. This is how he lived his life. When he arose in the morning, he sought the Presence of the Lord. When he had worries, he took them to the Lord. When he was afraid, he sought comfort from the Lord. When he was persecuted, he sought the deliverance of the Lord. David didn't fear that his honesty and humanity would offend God. He didn't 'watch what he confessed', for fear of bringing negative things upon himself- he fully put his life- all of it- in the Mighty hands of his Lord....he TRUSTED Him.

Read through the psalms, and you will see that David's passion for his Lord is truly remarkable. Where did he get it? Where can WE get it? Well, thankfully, it's not something that's for some believers and not for others. We worship the same God that David did, and this wonderful God desires that WE seek Him as David sought Him- early and with all our heart. You see, it is God Himself who puts this desire and passion in our hearts for Him. He loves us very deeply and He gives us, His children, the privilege of loving Him back, and we may pursue that passion for Him, or we may- sadly- just let it lie.

It is really up to each one of us, and the sad fact is that so many of today's believers just don't care enough to really seek after Him. Beloved, this is not how God intended for our relationship with Him to be. We Christians are the most blessed people in the world, and we need to realize it. As God draws us to Himself, we absolutely must respond to His wooing if we truly desire to have the love relationship with Him that He intended for us- ALL of us! If we're to be effective in bringing lost souls to Him, we must HAVE a genuine love for Him. If non-believers see your spiritual apathy, they simply will not take you seriously when you try to tell them of the Savior's love for them, no matter how sincere you try to sound....

How important is seeking the Lord early, before the cares and distractions of life take hold of us, before our earnest attention is turned elsewhere? Well, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ gives us a clue in Mark 1:35- "And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, He went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed". Now, if the Son of God thought it important to pray to the Father early, where do we get off trying to fit God into our busy schedules whenever we might find the time? A genuine, living, deep relationship with God cannot be faked. It's easy to spot an authentic lover of God. They have a depth, a spiritual reality, a life that literally radiates the love of the Savior. They do not live for themselves, but for Christ- and it shows. Their presence is joyful and enjoyable. It's also easy to spot someone who isn't so passionate about their Savior. Just a few minutes in their presence, and they reveal what their life is really all about. It's a shallow, self-filled existence- a real shame, considering what we all have been given by our God....

Amazing, isn't it, that we may have as much of God as we will, yet so few seem to want to really know Him as He intends for us to?.... Which brings us to a very few very important questions, and every believer alive must at some point come face to face with them. To the redeemed- What kind of relationship do you want with your Lord? Are you passionate for Him, or do you just want to go to heaven when you die? Is He the love, the heart throb of your life, the very reason you wake up each morning, or just someone you pray to before a meal?....

Believer, you may have the very heart of God, if you only will, or you may just reside on the fringes- a most pathetic place indeed. Which is it going to be? It is up to you.

En Agape,
Jim Ewing

SLAIN IN THE SPIRIT

It has been said that being slain in the spirit has no biblical basis. If you are looking for the word ‘slain’ in the Bible to support that ‘slain in the Spirit’ is unscriptural you are correct. There is no place in scripture that describes the experience of being slain in the Spirit by using the word ‘slain’. There is however many other words used in the Bible that verifies this type of an encounter with God.

Daniel wrote of his encounter with a messenger of God and said, "So he came near where I stood: and when he came I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision" (Daniel 8:17).

"And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king’s business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it" (Daniel 8:27).

"Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength" (Daniel 10:8). Daniel had no control over his strength, and in verse 17 said, "Neither is there breath in me."

Ezekiel had a similar experience that accompanied his encounter with the presence of the Lord, he said, "…I fell upon my face…" (Ezekiel 1:28). This same type of phenomenon occurred a second time to him in Ezekiel 3:23-24, "Then I arose and went into the plain: and, behold, the glory of the Lord stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar: and I fell on my face. Then the Spirit entered me, and set me upon my feet…"

The New Testament also records this same kind of effect when a person encounters the presence of the Lord. John gives his own personal testimony of this in Revelation 1:17, "And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And He laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not, I am the first and the last.

The point that I would like to make, is that they fell under the power. It makes no difference if they fell forward or backwards, or were afraid, or if someone chooses to use the word ‘slain’ to identify it. The fact is, they went down.

2 Chronicles 5:14 says the priests could not stand, "So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house." Talk about falling under the power. There you have it. The next time someone says the Bible says nothing about being ‘Slain in the Spirit’ you will know better.

Both Old and New Testament, saved and unsaved testify of a humbling experience outside the control of man when the glory of the Lord becomes present. For thousands of years and from all walks of life people have witnessed encounters with the glory of the Lord that has caused them to faint or fall down under the power. From an unsaved Saul on the road to Damascus to faithful John the beloved on the isle of Patmos,

Let me share the true story of what the Lord was doing at the start of the Jesus movement. I had been attending a small church in Costa Mesa where the youth pastor actually glowed. People started coming from all over to see this glowing young man that looked like Jesus. I brought an unsaved friend one Wednesday night to see the visible presence of the Lord shinning. Later that night at the afterglow service my unsaved friend said, "Did you see that, he pushed her down" as people were being slain in the Spirit. I went to another part of the sanctuary so he could sit alone and on the way home he told me this story. He said, "Not long after you left, I got up to see where you went and on my way out I locked eyes with the minister from a distance. I don’t know what happened to me but I fell to the floor and I couldn’t move; my legs were like rubber. If a train were headed at me, I swear to you I could not move." My unsaved friend had no reason to make up a story like that, and he had just accused the minister of pushing people down. Also he said don’t tell anyone about this.

Respectability somehow has a way of quenching the work of the Holy Spirit. It was 1970, and what would his friends think? Even our church began adapting to the same form of respectability. Not long after that, they changed the afterglow service to become another teaching session and no longer allowed the congregation to sing in tongues. At first they limited the singing to only two or three people at a time and then eventually stopped it altogether.

During the Jesus movement, our pastor Lonnie Frisbee would always tell us kids, "Jesus really is real."

JUST FOR THE BIBLICAL RECORD

For those of us who have a basic understanding of the scriptures, I need not list the many verses of ‘Praise Report’ given by Paul concerning his missionary journeys, or all the other disciples who reported what great things the Lord had done on their missionary trips.

Upon returning from Africa, I was eager to share the many experiences that God had placed me in, but after awhile I got the feeling my stories were falling upon deaf ears. I think people were expecting more of an update concerning natural and practical ways of helping the African people socially and economically. I had no stories of how I improved the various villages with the necessities of life such as food and shelter, medicine or education.

After having attended several meetings affiliated with church groups who were in the process of developing ministry teams to Africa and other parts of the world, I realized their programs were offering nothing in the way of spiritual gifts, deliverance and healing.

When, in the Lord, I searched my heart for answers, the Holy Spirit brought up an interesting point. Paul and the early church disciples had a lot to share about supernatural events that happened on their trips and almost nothing, upon their return home, about social and economic events. Their endeavor to minister always included spiritual gifts that were at work within them by the power of Christ and his anointing. They healed the sick, cleanse the leapers, raise the dead, the deaf were made to hear and the blind could see, but there was no mention of things like health care or better housing.

Jesus said, "Freely you have received so freely give." If we have nothing of substance in the way of offering financial aid we still have, according to Jesus, a lot to give. If the church today were out of money, they would also be out of gifts. They are unable spiritually to offer help to a suffering world supernaturally because their training does not equip them for it. This should never be the case in Christian education but unfortunately it is precisely the case.

The modern church of today places an enormous focus on education in the area of medical science technology and how it can help a suffering world but little if any education on faith for divine healing.

Biblical instructions for the equipping of the saints with the ministry of the Holy Ghost, who by Christ performs signs wonders and miracles, has taken a back seat to a human logic that says something quite different.

SELF POCLAIMED APOLOGETICS AND PROPHETS

Policing the body of Christ by those who claim to be defenders of the faith can become as heretical as those who claim they are prophets and are not. They often become judgmental faultfinders hitching a free ride on the fame of false prophets. A critical spirit that comes in the name of an apologetics ministry can bring serious reproach on the true body of Christ, by causing needless controversy and needless attention to non essentials. It divides Christians and diverts their attention from Christ. The focus becomes false doctrines, demons and Antichrist.

The only valid ministry of apologetics pertains strictly to the essential of historic Christianity. All else is out of bounds, and when it comes to brother against brother, under the belt. Jesus said, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.”

The only essential in the defense of the Christian faith is the deity of Jesus Christ. Any so called faith that does not acknowledge that Jesus Christ is almighty God in human form is open game for the ministry of apologetics to expose as a non Christian cult. But it is never the duty of any apologetics ministry to engage in controversy’s found within the true church. That is for the five offices of ministry given in Ephesians 4:11, designed by God for the work of the ministry and for the perfecting of the saint. Edification, exhortation, and comfort come by the word of God through, “…revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine (1 Corinthians 14:6). There is no such biblical thing as the office of apologetics and there is more to Ephesians 4:11 than Pastors, Pastors, Pastors, Pastors and Pastors.

Paul warns us in Philippians 3:2 to ‘beware of dogs and evil doers’ but then goes on in chapter 4:8 to affirm, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; If there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Concerning Christ and his church, we as believers should thrive on the good news of our hope in Christ, not the bad news of hopeless unbelief. When God sent twelve spies into the land of Canaan, Joshua and Caleb brought back a good report to the people of God. Both of them were fully aware of the giants that were in the land but they refused to let that become their focus. They said, “let us go up at once and possess the land.” Joshua and Caleb became heroes of faith in the bible; while on the other hand the bible called the bad news of the other ten spies ‘an evil report’.

We should avoid the bad news of things that gender strife and focus on the good news of things that produce a unity of faith. We are looking for Christ not the Antichrist. There may be a devil behind every bush, but we are to keep our eyes on the Lord. “Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do” (1Timothy 1:4). “But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain” (Titus 3:9). In Romans 16:17 Paul says, “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrines which ye have learned; and avoid them.”

Often times the devil plays both sides. It’s a technique used by the underworld. The strategy is, kill one of your own to make the other side think you are on their side. Self proclaimed apologetics and prophets are both misleading. Each has a way of overturning the faith of some causing their faith to become shipwrecked. A ship loaded with treasure that gets blown off course and loses its direction may get lost in a storm and sink loosing both the treasure and its crew. A believer that is twisted up in the wrong form of apologetics can lead many astray and spend their whole Christian life so preoccupied with what should not be in the church that they never discover and experience the treasures that God had for them within the church.

The devil came to kill, steel, and destroy. Jesus said that immediately when the word is sown the devil comes to steel it away. At some point in the life of every Christian, that Christian must face a cross roads. Will they choose the unpredictable higher road of faith for treasures unseen, or will they settle for routine predictability that never stretches their faith.

The promises of God are attainable but we must press into the things of God and by faith lay hold of them. Proceed with caution, but by all means proceed. Be careful and watch your steps, but take a step. Stop listening to those who try talking you into the confinement of their particular little boat. Get out of the boat and walk in the Spirit.

Your Particular Calling....

I've touched on this subject in the past, but I wanted to dig just a bit more into it at this time, because I feel that too few Christians today realize that they are unique in God's eyes, and that ministry- both to the Body of Christ en masse and to the lost- is for every one of us, not just pastors, evangelists and missionaries.

We ought never lose sight of the fact that God does in fact have a detailed calling on the lives of each one of His redeemed. Please understand that I am talking to believers now. I've shared God's Word with the saved and the lost alike, and of course everybody is welcome on this website, but this is a word specifically for the born again Christian, and particularly those of you who may wonder if God has any serious use for you, in terms of going out into the world and making a real difference for the Kingdom. Let's understand then-here and now- that the Almighty God, Creator of all that exists- both seen and unseen, and Savior of the world, has YOU in mind now.

Are you interested in being a precise, specific and effective instrument in the hands of God? Well, if you are, then you must know that you have that interest, that desire, that passion because He has thoughtfully and deliberately placed that desire in your heart....Do you LACK that passion, that sense of Divine purpose? If so, then you most likely have allowed yourself to become a 'victim' of the rough circumstances in which the Lord has placed you. Oftentimes a believer will then slowly become bitter and angry, lose interest, and eventually feel that he or she has no real worth as far as God is concerned- and NOTHING COULD BE FARTHER FROM THE TRUTH! You simply need that stony shell (the one you've allowed to grow and cover your heart through the months and years) to be broken- because, believe me- there's a heart underneath that shell that beats, pounds, yearns after its creator! He made you that way. You are no exception- We ALL go through pain, hurt and disappointment, and we tend to grow spiritually cold and indifferent as a result, but God resides in your heart, and- yes- he has a purpose for YOU.

As you seek His face earnestly and by faith, He will break that thick, hard, unconcerned shell that covers your God-seeking heart, and replace it with a smooth, silky transparency that will allow your heart to respond quickly and joyfully to His every Holy prompting....So whether you recognize His gentle wooing, or are disturbed by your apparent lack of concern, the answer to your situation is the same- Seek His face with all your heart! Psalm 27:8- "When Thou saidst, 'Seek ye My face; my heart said unto Thee, 'Thy face, Lord, will I seek'."

This is what God desires, and this is what He has put into YOUR heart to desire. If you will seek Him in earnest, you will come to a clear understanding of where He has placed you in the Body of Christ, and when that happens, you'll never be shaken from it.....

I spoke with pastor David Sloane some time ago at length about God's calling, and we shared our amazement at how God has called the both of us- David to a powerful prophetic ministry, and myself, to a healing ministry. David, being a prophet, has admittedly faced derision and open nonacceptance (much like Jesus did during HIS earthly ministry) at various places within the Body of Christ. None of it, however, has squelched or diminished his calling. Why? Because he was called of God, and he could no sooner turn his back on his calling than he could stop breathing (read the apostle Paul's epistles!). That is what the Lord's call will do in the life of a yielded man or woman of God!

I must add that brother David Sloane has also known much effectiveness and success in his endeavors as well (as did Paul). I have witnessed the Lord's anointing on his life, on pastor Tilson Shumate's life, and others- and as differently as God will use various people, and as unique and diverse as their callings are, you will recognize that it is the same Spirit working in all of them, when it is in fact God doing the calling.

Whether you are a pastor, a missionary, a real estate agent, a painter, or a mailroom clerk, God is faithful, and He will bring you- as you seek Him with all your heart- into the place which He has had for you since before you were even born. Don't doubt that for a moment!

Jim

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This kind of jumped out at me as I read Jim's teaching above.

"...then you most likely have allowed yourself to become a 'victim' of the rough circumstances in which the Lord has placed you."

Just today I heard a teacher on the radio say that the trees that are positionally on the mountain where the storms are the worst tend to be the strongest.

God has a plan and a goal for each life. Not in a robotic sense but in such a way that you retain your autonomy as a person. God the Master Creator nudges circumstances to custom tailor our progress in the Christian life. And it is not always easy.

Joseph finds his betrothed is pregnant and he had nothing to do with it, what would people think. Then he has to go to his home town to register with his very pregnant wife and there is no where at all for them to stay because of the crowds coming in from the surrounding countryside. They end up in a cold cave on a hillside with livestock and everything that comes with livestock. One can only imagine what went through young Joseph's mind. "O man this is not at all what I expected from God, I should have had better accommodations then this."

Moses is told to go back and set his people free and Pharaoh ends up making their lot in life all the more hard. They now, as a result of Moses following God's calling, have to make bricks with out hay or straw. Moses surly wondered "Why Lord, Why? And then he follows the pillar of fire and ends up in a dead end canyon with a sea on one side and the Egyptians on the other. Not an easy position, and you know there were those who were of a mind that Moses had goofed up big time and their doom was eminent. So Moses does the only thing he can think of, he drops to his knees and starts to pray. He is suddenly interrupted by the Master Creator Almighty God, "Hey Mo, what are you doing! Get up man and part the sea, now is not the time for prayer, it is time for action, get going dude!"

John the baptist lost his head because he obeyed and preached in the wilderness.

And let's not forget the apostle Paul. Stoned and left for dead because he obeyed and spread the gospel message. Ship wrecked because he obeyed and spread the gospel message. Bound in chains because he obeyed and spread the gospel message.

God knows what it takes to build up those whom He calls and it is not always what we think it will be like. Things will at first appear to be totally out of control with no seeming solution in sight.

"O God, O God, help!!!"

But you know if we remain strong and of good courage the corner we find ourselves backed into will get rounded by the Lord and we will slip right out. Whishhhh...

Come on, you know the program of God and how it works.

Proverbs 25:4Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.

Isaiah 1:25And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:

1 Peter 4:12Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

I love that, "...as though some strange thing has happened unto you." Is not that what we always first think of when things get out of our control? It is always our knee jerk reaction at first.

You know Joseph at first reacted in the same way when he finds his woman in a state that normally indicated betrayal. You know that Moses felt initially that things were not right, this is not a great position to be in, between the Egyptians and the sea with no apparent way of escape.

I wonder how many of you out there today are finding yourselves in positions that are uncomfortable and not at all what you expected? Feeling like somehow you 'missed it' and God isn't there.

God is custom tailoring ways and situations that will ultimately result in His plans and purposes. But we do get a part to play. A relational interaction with our Savior. Sure things may look bleak and stagnant. Sure the checking account is way overdrawn and bills are due and stacking up.

But who is our God? Is He still upon His throne? Is His hand so short that He can not save?

Now I did not say this nor did some slick TV evangelist, Jesus Christ said it and He ment it:

Matthew 17:20And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Mark 10:27And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.

Luke 1:37For with God nothing shall be impossible.

If you are facing some hard things right now. Things that for you are way impossible with no solution in sight. Take heart. Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is all powerful and all knowing. He sees your plight, He knows.

Go to Him, petition Him, and then start to be strong and courageous as you begin to determine that you will now begin to trust in Him and cling to Him like velcro and rely upon Him to see you through.

Because I know that He can and that He will. Because God is still upon His throne!

The Lion Will Lay Down With The Lamb

Oil Companies Dislike This Man

He gets around 800 miles per tank full of gas. On average about 95 miles per gallon. All from a Honda Civic that he tinkered with in an attempt to lower its coefficient of air drag. He gets better mileage and has a lower drag coefficient than even the newest generation of the Toyota Prius. At a speed of 65mph the Aerocivic gets a whopping 95mpg!
.
So how does it work? The secret lies in all of the aerodynamic modifications that Mike has made to the car. His goal was to create a car that would have an extremely low coefficient drag. A Toyota Prius for example, has a coefficient drag of around 0.25 CD. By smoothing out the boxy profile of his 1992 Honda Civic Mike was able to achieve 0.17 CD. On an 11 gallon tank, he will regularly get around 800 miles!

"Ancient" Syriac bible found in Cyprus

Authorities in northern Cyprus believe they have found an ancient version of the Bible written in Syriac, a dialect of the native language of Jesus.

The manuscript was found in a police raid on suspected antiquity smugglers. Turkish Cypriot police testified in a court hearing they believe the manuscript could be about 2,000 years old.

The manuscript carries excerpts of the Bible written in gold lettering on vellum and loosely strung together, photos provided to Reuters showed. One page carries a drawing of a tree, and another eight lines of Syriac script.http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090206/lf_nm_life/us_cyprus_bible

Here is what some of you have told me. I know that there are others who are waiting to see what comes of my efforts to tell the Shekinah story before they step up to the plate. I have left out some of what was told to me because it serves no point in our Christian progress. It is the parts from all of you who were there that tells the story and helps us to assemble the big picture.

A Goal Without A Plan Is Only A Wish...

Proverbs 23:5Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
.
The Real Secret Of The Curse Of The Lottery Millionaires
.
Proverbs 13:4The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
.
Proverbs 20:4The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.
.
Proverbs 21:5The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
.
Winning Millions Often Results in Hardship
The record setting $390 million lottery jackpot shared by two American winners has put stars and dollar signs in the eyes of millions of would-be millionaires. But a sudden cash windfall HAS NOT always resulted in a happy ending for past lottery winners. In fact, those not prepared, mature and responsible often find themselves in a worse predicament. Is it possible that some riches are cursed?
.
The dream you have about winning may be better than the actuality of winning. There have been families that have just been torn apart by this process.
.
Here are some examples of the curses of lottery millions:
"...nearly one third of multi-million dollar lottery winners become bankrupt in just a few short years after they’re big win."
.
Evelyn Adams, who won the New Jersey lottery not just once but twice (1985, 1986) to the tune of $5.4 million. Today the money is all gone and Adams lives in a trailer.
.
"Everybody wanted my money. Everybody had their hand out. I never learned one simple word in the English language -- 'NO.' I wish I had the chance to do it all over again. I'd be much smarter about it now," says Adams who also lost money at the slot machines in Atlantic City.
.
William "Bud" Post won $16.2 million in the Pennsylvania lottery in 1988 but now lives on his Social Security ($450 a month) and food stamps.
"I wish it never happened. It was totally a nightmare."
.
Suzanne Mullins won $4.2 million in the Virginia lottery in 1993. Now she's deeply in debt to a company that lent her money using the winnings as collateral.
"My understanding is she has no assets," says lawyer who sued her.
.
Ken Proxmire was a machinist when he won $1 million in the Michigan lottery. He moved to California, went into the car business with his brothers and within five years, Ken had filed for bankruptcy.
"Dad's now back to work as a machinist," says his son.
.
Willie Hurt of Lansing, Mich., won $3.1 million in 1989. Two years later he was broke and charged with murder. His lawyer says Hurt spent his fortune on a divorce and crack cocaine.
.
Charles Riddle of Belleville, Mich., won $1 million in 1975. Afterward, he got divorced, faced several lawsuits and was indicted for selling cocaine.
.
Psalm 37:11But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
.
Ecclesiastes 5:10He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.
.
Ecclesiastes 5:12The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.
.
Jesus Christ said:
Luke 12:15And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
.
Ecclesiastes 2:24-26
A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

Christianity or Churchianity?

John 8:36-"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." As believers, we have been made free from the dominion and power of sin by the shed blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We still, however, have what the apostle Paul calls 'sin that dwelleth in me', or 'indwelling sin' (Romans 7:17&20), and as long as we live in this body of ours, it will continue acting to pull our attention, thoughts, affections, even our very heart- away from Christ and onto the flesh and all of its attractions.

Let's not be naive about this- sin IS pleasurable- the Bible says so. But only for a season (Hebrews 11:25), and this battle against 'indwelling sin' is a lifelong one, even though the believer has been equipped by God to overcome. So how do we deal with all of this, both individually and as the Body of Christ, in a practical, day to day manner? Well, this is an area in which I believe the Church has really 'dropped the ball', and people, both the lost and the saved, are suffering greatly, and on a daily basis as a result. Instead of truly walking with Christ in an intimate way, and trusting the Holy Spirit to the wonderful work of convicting of sin that He does, we're running around looking at and picking at the faults of those outside of Christ (as if that will somehow draw them to the Loving Savior!), and we're constantly looking for shortcomings in other believers, in order to 'confront' them and make them more like US- ugh!

We feel spiritually superior to those that we see struggling, yet we are as filthy and self-righteous as the Pharisee who compared himself to the publican in Luke 18- remember? "The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank Thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice a week, I give tithes of all that I possess'. "And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his brest, saying, 'God be merciful to me, a sinner' "(vs. 11-13). Read the story. Jesus tells us which of the two men went away justified....

Do you think that times have really changed? Aren't we exactly the same? Why do we continue to insist on tearing one another down? The lost sinner is not beating down the church doors in order to be berated- Goodness sakes, he can go to the local bar and find ACCEPTANCE instead! He has not been told that there is a Savior who loves him unconditionally, and the way we treat him, he'd never believe us if we did tell him. How sad. And how about the struggling Christian? To whom will he turn when all seems against him? Not those in the church, for he knows that he'll be gossipped about, looked down upon, or just generally minimized by those in whom the Spirit of God dwells. Doesn't your heart just ache when you realize that we're not the healing Body that God intended for us to be? Why won't we minister to others? Why don't we rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep? Are we too busy? Is our favorite television show on tonight? Are we so insecure in our own relationship with Christ that we're afraid that God may bless others instead of us?

Precious ones, this is CHURCHIANITY, and don't ever confuse it with CHRISTIANITY, because it isn't! I can see the Son of God looking to His Father and asking, "Why aren't My people reaching out to others? What has happened to them- don't they care? I bled and died for the lost. Why don't THEIR hearts bleed for the lost? They're MY children, but who can tell? I gave them everything they needed to walk intimately with Me and to love one another and to love others into the Kingdom. Why won't they do it? Why have they grown so cold?".....

Beloved, what is it going to be- Christianity or churchianity? Beautiful, fragrant blossoms or tumbleweeds? Shekinah....or ichabod?
